From 4th till 6th of July, Poslovna inteligencija in cooperation with Zagreb University of Applied Sciences is organizing Big Data Summer School. The third year in a row this Bootcamp is based on a combination of theory and practice, with the aim of introducing the concept and best practice with knowledge transfer to participants.
In the course of 3 days, BDSS aim is to introduce the world of Big Data to 15 participants. The first day of the program is an introductory section, which will explain how to think in a time of great Data. The aim of the first day of class is that the participants understand Business Information System Design. On the second day, participants will be dealing with data collection, database design and the essential components of a Big Data platform, by viewing the Hadoop and its ecosystems, components for making Big Data Platform (HDFS, the YARN, the Hive, the Impala), analysis, modeling and comparing the data. The goal of the third day is to use visualization to improve Big Data analysis. Machine Learning, its processes, tools, and examples from practice have the aim to convert the attendants in the Data professionals, or at least start the process of becoming it.

Who are the lecturers?
BDSS is led by experts, scientists and users from the field of Big Data Concepts and Big Data Analytics.
Marko Štajcer, Director of the Department of Innovation and Development in Poslovna inteligencija. Marko is responsible for research and the introduction of new technologies and the development of Big Data applications. He also participates in complex projects of data integration and advanced analytics in the role of system architect, lead consultant and project manager.
Hrvoje Gabelica, business intelligence consultant from Poslovna inteligencija, certified for data analytics and visualization in Tableau Software and Head of Tableau User Group Zagreb. He is also an author of more than 50 articles about business intelligence, data mining and Big Data, and has been a guest speaker at many conferences and faculties.
Sergej Lugović is a senior lecturer teaching Information Economy, Technology Entrepreneurship and e-business at the Polytechnic of Zagreb, Croatia. His research interests are information behavior and needs in intelligent socio-technical systems. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and an MBA from The London College UCK. Along with his academic career, he had a business career in Moscow, London, and Zagreb. He holds and continuous education degrees from MIT (Big Data) and University of Amsterdam (Digital Methods).
