Informatica beyond analytics Conference

The biggest Informatica Conference in the region – Informatica beyond analytics was held on 21st of February 2017, at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Zagreb. Conference participants had the opportunity to hear interesting lectures from a number of guest speakers, we presented case studies, real-time demonstrations and interesting panel “Using Data to Power Business Transformation”. The conference brought together more than 100 experts and participants from Croatia and region.

At the beginning of the conference participants were welcomed by Dražen Oreščanin, the CEO of Poslovna inteligencija, and a representative of Informatica Corporation Massimo Miazzetto, Regional Director of Informatica for eastern Europe

The conference was opened with introductory lecture by motivational speaker Toni Milun, who drew attention to the importance of motivating younger generations and students about STEM area, of which the long-term benefit would be for both companies and younger generations.

Andrew Joss, Head of Industry Consulting from Informatica had a presentation on digital transformation and the role of data in 2017. Another keynote speaker Jozef Gemela, Associate Vice President at IDC gave a lecture on how to recognize the full potential of the data in the era of digital transformation.

After keynote speakers, Aleksandar Janković, Director of business architecture and project management from Serbia Broadband, demonstrated how complex data migration from several different CRM and Billing systems to SAP, using Informatica tools was realized, and how the migration process improved data quality.

Mathieu Lagrange, Big Data product specialist from Informatica held a technical presentation entitled “Informatica Big Data portfolio”, in which he showed how Informatica helps companies to exploit the full potential of Big Data platform for processing data at easiest way possible and how to monetize Big Data.

Marijan Bračić, Consultancy director from Poslovna inteligencija presented real-time demo using Facebook as an example where he explained how to collect and visualize data from social networks, as well as presented use-cases from the practice in the region.

Conference hosted a panel titled “Using Data to Power Business Transformation” where audience were able to find out what is the role of data in the digital transformation of the business. Participants of the panel were CEO of Poslovna inteligencija Dražen Oreščanin, Andrew Joss, Ivan Češković Chief Data Architect in Zagrebačka banka and Jozef Gemela , established experts with years of experience in the field of digital transformation.

Alistair SeatonTechnical Manager for the SEE region from Informatica introduced us to the world of Informatica solutions in the field of data security, with particular emphasis on how to solve the GDPR regulations, while Marijan Bračić and Biljana Cerin from Ostendo Consulting Group held presentation entitled “PI Solution for GDPR “ where they presented a solution for the General data protection Regulation, the EU regulations for the protection of personal data.

Mathieu Lagrange, Informatica, Big Data EMEA Product Specialist

Jozef Gemela, IDC, Associate VP for consulting

Jozef Gemela has more than 10 years of international experience in strategic business consulting and market research across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEMA). As associate VP for consulting, Gemela is responsible for developing and managing consulting projects for all ICT technology groups and geographies across the region. He has led and contributed to numerous large consulting engagements focused on strategic advisory services, go-to-market strategies, partnering and strategic alliances, feasibility studies, national ICT development plans, and integrated marketing communication. Prior to joining IDC, Gemela worked for a consumer goods company as well as a researcher and lecturer at the Prague University of Economics.

Andrew Joss, Informatica, Head of Industry Consulting – EMEA

Andrew is an experienced consultative sales professional with a long track record of success. With a career spanning 30 years in the IT industry, Andrew had worked in most industry sectors although had spent most time in Financial Services, Retail and Public Sector. By adopting a consultative approach, he has been able to explain to customers the monetary value of a solution – demonstrating why they should invest and why they should do it now. His roles have taken him from a technical background to consultative selling roles and he most enjoys things when he’s out working with customers on solving their problems. Explaining how technology can change the way a business operates and showing how it drives real business value is a sign of a good working relationship with a customer – something he strives for in every activity he does.

Toni Milun, Higher education teaching professional at Algebra university college

Toni Milun is a mathematics lecturer at University College Algebra in Zagreb. He graduated in 1999 from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and in 2012 he completed postgraduate specialist study program. Currently he is a PhD student in Business Economics at the Faculty of Economics in Rijeka. In April 2011, at the suggestion of his student Nikola Mujdžić he launched a website with free video lectures in mathematics and statistics. Currently he has more than 2000 published videos and because of them he was awarded with “Ponos Hrvatske” award in 2012. He is TV host and author of TV show “Financijalac” which explains basics of finance in an easy way.

Biljana Cerin, Ostendo Consulting Group, Director, Information and Compliance

Biljana Cerin is director of Ostendo Consulting where she provides advisory services for clients with complex regulatory requirements in the field of managing information systems and information security risks. Biljana has gained rich international experience on designing and establishing a risk management system projects, information security and business continuity in accordance with the applicable local and international regulations for clients such as the world’s leading biotech company Amgen, Stanford University, MGM Resorts International, FINA, Elektroprivreda BiH, HEP, INA, and leading financial and telecom companies in Croatia. She is a President of the Croatian branch of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC) 2, an active member and speaker at leading international conferences of international association ISACA, and the bearer of CISSP, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CBCP and PMP certificate.

Alistair Seaton, Informatica, Technical Manager for SEE

Alistair has 20 years of professional IT experience, the last 15 working in the data integration and data management space. After reading Computer Science at the University of Exeter, UK, Alistair has spent time working at software and services organizations including Cap Gemini and IBM involved in a large variety of projects and customers. Alistair is now based in Italy, leading the technical team for South Eastern and Eastern Europe.

Aleksandar Janković, Enterprise Architecture and Project Management Director in the IT sector at SBB Serbia BroadBand, Member of United Group

Aleksandar Janković has more than 15 years of experience in the IT and telecom industry. He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade in 1995. After that, he worked in several IT companies, as a telecommunications engineer and later as a team leader and Project Manager on several large infrastructure projects in the telecom industry and the energy industry. Since 2013 he has been working within the SBB, member of United Group, which as the largest service provider in the region operates in several countries and is a leader in the media and telecommunications market. Aleksandar is currently on the position of Enterprise Architecture and Project Management Director in the IT sector. The main focus is the enterprise architecture and digital transformation of all business segments of companies in group in all competitive markets. He is currently working on several IT projects, which are aimed at modernizing and improving the IT infrastructure.

Ivan Češković, Zagrebačka banka, Chief Data Architect

Ivan Češković graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and since then, for over 16 years, has been working in several IT companies mainly on development projects related to databases. More than 8 years he is focused on data warehouse and data architecture in a variety of industries: retail and distribution, telecommunications, banking. From 2015 he is working as a Chief Data Architect in Zagrebačka Banka and is working on projects of development of data infrastructure, data models, data usage and bank data management.

Marijan Bračić Poslovna Inteligencija, Consultancy Director

Marijan Bračić is a Consultancy Director in Poslovna inteligencija, where he is working for the past 9 years. Since graduating the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb he is working in the field of analytics and data management. He also led complex projects in the telecom and financial industry and worked as an architect on projects of introducing analytical systems. In addition to working on projects Marijan held educations about Informatica tools for customers on three continents. Today he manages the department that deals with the integration and protection of the (big) data.
